Showing The Way Home When You’re Not There

Home and Lifestyle,  Kids

Being a parent comes with happiness, great surprises and wonderful memories. But, it also created us fears for our child, especially when they are still young and we know that the world is not a safe place. We are so over protective to our kids about everything but how over protective can we be? We protect them as much as we can and do the best of our ability because it’s our child. So, to make things a bit comfortable for us parents and our child, it is important to teach our kids at a young age about the possibilities of everyday life. This includes…. Teaching your child simple street and traffic regulations. Like for example, no running around in the parking lot , always stay on the side walk and always be by their parents side most especially on public places. Teaching your child their identity and home information. It is very important to teach our kids as young as 3 years old about her identity and home information. I remembered when my first child Lucas was three years old, we taught him his full name, address, our names and phone numbers. Even up to now that he is already eight years old, we still ask him time to time our address and phone numbers. We are on the works right now with our second child Olivia. Since she is already  aware of her surroundings and understands simple instructions, it is the best time for her to know these basic information. Teaching your child their way home. When we go for a ride, we regularly as our kids if we are almost home or does the surroundings looks familiar to them. When we go for a walk, we ask them which way are we going just to test them if they knew their way home. Teaching them to be confident in social situations and to trust their gut instincts. When our kids starts to go to school, they are basically on their own. We don’t want them to grow up being fearful but instead be mindful and vigilant with the surroundings and certain situations, especially the ones that gives them a bad feeling. It is important to let our kids understand that they shouldn’t feel embarrassed or guilty or wrong in any way if they acted in self-defense. It’s always better to be safe than sorry. As much we want to be with our kids 24/7 day in and day out under watchful eye and be the “Super Mom” or “Super Dad” by being there all the time, it’s just not practical. We got work to do and there are times we are separated from our children and hoping everything is okay. Instead of relying on hope and chance, there’s a simple way you can prepare your children and those who look after them (or find them) to deal with unwanted circumstances like a child going missing or needing medical attention. There is an agency that does the work to preserve your protective presence, it is called Child ID . Child ID provides Child I.D. label. Iron it on to your child’s clothing and the 24/7 toll-free hotline is ready to reunite you with your lost child. TIP: Don’t put your child’s name on their clothes! You’re just giving bad guys a really important piece of information. The simplicity of the label has more to it than just reuniting children with their families. Your child’s unique number and that 800 number is a gateway to help in two very important ways: Maybe a child needs medical attention…the 800 number can give them vital medical information. Maybe a child needs a safe place to call…the 800 number will have a caring person talk to them. What information does our child have right now? If they are still unable to talk or just learned how to talk, nothing really. If they are able to talk, what if they feel threatened and traumatized or even unconscious. It’s scary to think about this and something I don’t really like talking about because my imagination just go crazy and goes off the wall but it is important to be aware and vigilant of things that could happen. This Old Navy yellow top that she has on is one of my favorite purchases this summer and like they said, if you love it buy more ! Unfortunately it only comes in two colors this yellow one and a powder blue with prints on it. But it’s okay, at least it prevents me from too much hauling at Old Navy.

Girls Lace-up Sandals

Kids

Olivia is so picky on shoes. There are times that she doesn’t want to wear the shoes that I buy for her, so I end up returning them and I feel bombed out because it would have been a great to pair for an outfit that I have in mind for her. But I can’t force her into something she is not comfortable. Last week, we went to Old Navy to do a little shopping  and we bumped into this lace-up sandals. It is so cute! I wish they have it in my size too, unfortunately they don’t. I showed it to her and I’m glad she tried it on and liked it. I love the style and color of this sandals, it would go with anything. I also love the edgy style of it.One of the things that I like about it, is that there is zipper at the back to put their feet in. You don’t really need to lace them up, that is just a decoration. So I hope you like my mini fashionista’s style today .Thank you so much for reading and have a great day ! top- Gap kids (last season) similar here and here skirt – Gap kids  sandals- Old Navy ( sold out ) similar here and here

How I take Pictures of my Pre-schooler

Kids

Taking pictures of a toddler or a pre-schooler is not an easy task. It takes a lot patience and creativity. So today, I  want to share to you how I take pictures of my 3 yrs. old daughter. I am not a professional photographer nor a child expert. As we all know, every child is different. So i just want to share my techniques and hopefully it works for you too. 1. Go down on their level to take a picture, so you could get a good full length shot. 2. Sing songs, tell a story, act silly so they can be at ease. Instead of asking them to smile, ask questions about things they like, to get their attention to look at you. It’s a task for sure, but when you get that good capture. It’s worth it. 3. Follow them around and let them be themselves. Just be prepared and quick to get that right angle or action to capture. 4.Kids love to mimic. When i let Olivia do a specific pose, I do it first then I’ll have her do it after me. Sometimes she does what i say, sometimes she doesn’t.If she doesn’t, my next option is to do  role playing. Like for example, I’m pretending to be  Cinderella and I’ll tell her that Cinderella likes to do this and that ,while I’m doing the poses that i want her to follow. It does work, she enjoys it and have her own input too BUT i have to say this, it doesnt work every time. You know your child and their abilities. You just have to be creative and go with their level of imagination. It’s stressful to think about it but when you get to do it with them, it’s  fun. 5.Make sure they’re fed and their nap times are already met. That way, they are in a better mood. 6.If you are not planning your shoot at the playground. Make sure it’s out of their sight or else they will be heading towards the playground, for sure. 7.The best place to take pictures is during the daylight in a wide open space, that way they can roam around and just be free to discover and enjoy things around them. These are just a few things that I do when I take pictures of my pre-schooler. I  have to   say, the experience is different every time because at their age, their reactions towards everything is unpredictable and unexpected. Don’t take it  seriously, just have fun with it !  It’s not just about the finish product but what matters is the journey and the moment you share together. Denim and a Pop of Pink

Kids

Hello ! So we are back to blogging and social media posting. Life has  been a whirlwind lately. I couldn’t keep up with everything that’s been going on, in between the kids, husband, household, school activities and family. I feel like I’m always chasing time. But I don’t want to come here to complain. After all, there are certain things that happens  in life that we can’t control of and some things have to take a backseat for awhile. But I’m not giving up, we are back to blogging again! For some of you who have been reading  my blog and following my social media, you already know I have an obsession with kids fashion. Most especially girls fashion ! There are tons of inspiration everywhere on Instagram and Pinterest. They are so cute in their little outfits, I just can’t help it. I have to style my daughter Olivia on a fashionably cute way that I can think of. I don’t know why, but I  actually find it therapeutic every time I put her outfits together. Sometimes, I get cranky for whatever reason. I just go to her room and plan what’s her next outfit for story time at the Library. Omg ! I’m weird like that. But really, I love dressing up my daughter in whatever mood I’m in. I just enjoy it. The most fun part and one of the things I’m so lucky about her is that she likes her picture taken.  I have to say it’s not ALL the time, but most of the time. She have her moments just like everybody else but for the most part, she is game. How do I plan her outfits and have her a part of the planning ? First, I grab two or three outfits that I can come up with, then I let her pick her accessories or I let her pick her accessories, then I build an outfit around it. That way, I know she loves what she is wearing that day. If she doesn’t like it, I have to changed it or else she is never going to wear it. She is a tough cookie. So today, this is the outfit we came up with. She loves this pink Hunter boots. It’s her go to footwear from fall, winter and early spring. Her favorite color is pink, that’s why she wears a lot of pink and she will be wearing more especially this summer. So stay tune ! Thanks a lot for reading!
